Sikkim Darjeeling Tour Route
There are two routes to enter India west Bengal or Sikkim. No matter from where you want to start the tour. All of you must reach to the eastern boarder Nepal and India. Therefore, we are going to provide the demo of the tour based on Pokhara or Kathmandu.
Route 1
Well, let us first discuss on route 1. Then after we will talk about the next route. It is up to you to choose either route one or two.
First Day
You can travel from Pokhara or Kathmandu to Kakadbhitta on the first day. This is the longest distance in this Sikkim Darjeeling Tour Route. Night halt at Kakadbhitta.
Day 2
Now you have to take jeep to travel up to Gangtok. Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim. You need to make pass to enter Sikkim. Therefore, on the way you have to make pass showing your identity card. Students can use the school’s identity card but other general people need citizenship certificate. On this day you can have sightseeing of seven points around Gangtok.
In Sikkim you can visit Chhangu lake as well. It is about 3750 m from sea level hence it is little bit adventurous. In the evening it is fantastic to visit MG road. MG opens till 10 pm. Then after the market will be closed. The rules are strict in Sikkim. Night halt at Gangtok.
Day 3
Early in the morning after taking breakfast now you will be heading to Namche. It is famous for Char Dham. It is holy place. There are several temples in this area. You can take enough time to explore Namche. Namche is about 86 kilometers from Gangtok. The road is back topped. The view of hills look very much eye catching.
From Namche you will be heading towards Darjeeling. On the same day if time permit you can visit Zoo and other points in Darjeeling. But we can not predict all about it right now. It is because there are several factors which hardly affects the schedule. Like traffic jam. Night halt at Darjeeling.
Day 4
Get up at around 4 am to move Tiger Hill. This is the point to observe sunrise. Jeep will drop you to Tiger hill early in the morning. The view of Kanchenjunga Mountain is really marvelous. After spending an hour over there you will be heading to Pashupatinagar. It is the Nepal India boarder check post. Now from Pashupatinagar you have to catch your bus which has left you in Kakadbhitta. Now proceed to Phikal. Kanyama is the next famous point to visit in Ilam. Here you will find the Tea Garden. Ilam is famous for tea. Night halt at Ilam bazar.
Day 5
Now from Ilam your journey will start for Dharan. You will be visiting Namaste water fall which lies some 30 kilometers from Dharan bazar. It is on the way to Dhankuta from Dharan. It is natural water fall. You have to walk about 10 minutes to reach water fall from the highway. Now return to Bhedeytar to observe sky way.
The sky way ticket is quite expensive. You have to pay Rs. 500 per person to enter the sky walk. Soon after visiting this point your next destination in Budasubba Temple at Dharan. Danta Kali temple is also close to Budasubba. So, you can visit both the point within 30 minutes. Night halt at Dharan.
Day 6
You will be heading towards Janakpur after completing your breakfast at Dharan. On the way you will be observing Koshi Barrage. It is 62 years old steel concrete structure built on Koshi river. The barrage is 1150 m long. It has 56 doors. The control of barrage is with Indian government. After the completion of this barrage, it is easy to cross sapta Koshi river. Currently this barrage links Koshi province and Madesh Province of Nepal. It is the life line of eastern Terai.
Day 7
This is the last day of the tour. On the way you can visit Sahid Smarak Park in Hetauda. It is 4 km ahead from Hetauda bazar. Beside this there are no remarkable point to visit. Finally, you will reach Kathmandu or Pokhara at around 8 pm.
Route 2
In this route instead of Kakadbhitta you will enter India i.e. Darjeeling from Pashupati Nagar. The visiting points in Sikkim and Darjeeling are same both Route 1 and 2. The only difference is that in Route 1 you enter India from Kakadbhitta and exit from Pashupati Nagar but in Rout 2 it is just reverse.
